Before I am Gone

Well, first record of this future song appeared as a post in 3rd of September 2017 on Instagram profile of mine. That was one of the first videos of satire-humorous live performing show named Nota Artista, more about this project you can read here. The Russian name of this song is (literal translation) “A man (human) without a tongue” – without “language”, without a “vote” or “voice”. The English version is “Before I am gone”. “Human without a voice” – in fact was taken by me as mine lyrics and poems author pseudonym. All lyrics are independent, differs a bit but determines one. So, what it is – A voiceless man? - in both of them is story about a human, a citizen with “rights”, but without a culture and any power, without respect, this is about speechless society, circumstances, people who are nothing to their authorities, about a man in whose soul are fighting reflections, from the one side - his real personality and his nature, history and from the other side is the reality around him and inside which he must live and respect too, both of them he want to love, both of this sides he wants to be together for him, and those sides should be one unit, but unfortunately there is only one option given to choose, however, the choice he can make, the question is what it will be. This is about how much he wanted to define people around as his family too, his pride and finding a support behind his back as a person, professional and citizen all together, but he is an alien to this people. Of course, there is a political and social subtext and I don’t hide that, but nevertheless, the crucial answers I give, you should find in your heart, in your faith, in your persistence but the main is – in dedication to your real craft, mastership and love of who you actually are and what you are ready to sacrifice or loose to keep being that, to keep being yourself or not to be, in this capitalistic, fake-democratic, fake-free, liberal “true” world. Whatever, the things that always can make us to be and live together as one unit is common couse and purpose. But where are you looking this support, in which things, what that means to you? Maybe there must not be any kind of such thing as support and respect from your society or government, and it is okay?! So I give some answers to look elsewhere...

Back to the music stuff. This record was seen by friend of mine, he liked that very much, was inspired by that and insisted to make a record in professional sound recording studio - big thanks for that, because that was my first own single recorded as a soloing artist, as a singer, not first work in studios at all, but first professionally recorded own stuff. Also, my friend helped me to organize this, helped me financially and he inspired and influenced working process very much. The participation in Latvian pre-selection of Eurovision 2018 was the main goal, that’s the main reason we selected to make record in studio. The truth is I didn’t want to give this work for contest, the music and lyrics for me was completed and I didn’t have a vision of continuing this, for that moment I spoke out my thoughts, but we forced my doubts about this project and took the challenge, because the time we had for this, as often happens, was minimal. This fact was impacted the process and the final result of record, and I can’t be silent about that, but in those circumstances, from material we had, with this approach we did maximum, but if the best - can’t say. The English lyrics was written by russian poetess from Riga, who was inspired by my art, personality and she based this story on what I was telling her about, through her feelings and professional vision and capabilities as a foreign language lyricist. My own Russian lyrics I was completed in few days behind the recording process. The funniest fact is that this single didn’t get even to contest pre-selection jury. My participation form-questionnaire was declined by their side because of lack of data about authors biography or something, and they kindly asked me by responding with email that I should refill and resend them this form again. But I thought “all’s should be fine” and it is true, it really should, we filled all correctly, but still, in fact that wasn’t, and I didn’t checked my inbox for a few days after we sent query first time and I actually red their email only the day after when the participation query was already closed. The question why they sent me this reply with information only a few hours before the query time ends for me is a secret, but maybe there was many participants and I should be thanking that they answered at all, anyway that was my bad. So, the manager position in music industry not just for a good looking, yeah, in my case, attention, responsibility and proper management of work and information flow was crucial, it is crucial, but shit happens, what’s done that’s done, or not done, the lesson learned. Anyway, there is no point to be sad about this fact that we didn’t even get to the first encounter but what really matters is how fast and efficiently in short period of time you can make a result in your work, how exciting it can be, to spent time with interest and in loved workflow, when you got a desire and in our case money too, yeah, of course in music industry the money matters, and often becomes a general part of your success formula, however, you can do much if you have only talent, if you work hard and you can efficiently get right with all the things and people that just around you, what you can use not only for money or for big amount of it, but remember, the things are made to be used by people, not to be loved, people we used to love, but not to exploit. 

So, it is hard to me to say what kind of music style is that single, maybe close to some R&B mixture, as told me a sound engineer. The song is wide and slow but full of energy, from my point of view, I combined accordion sound with authors song style closer to modern trends of 2018 and we did this, enjoy:
